Land Service Volunteer Day - March

The first warm days of late winter/early spring are prime opportunities for controlling woody invasives, especially Amur bush honeysuckle and Asian bittersweet. We'll be spending some time clearing the sensitive wetland and dogwood thickets of the EQIP restoration area and hand broadcast seeding the new open areas. We'll supply all tools; bring your own gloves or borrow a pair of ours. Gather at the picnic bench outside the garage doors on the East side of St. Joseph Hall. Park on the South side of Sieben Hall or in Lot C. Please dress for the weather, and expect the trails to be muddy. After some work, we'll take a nature hike in search of early spring ephemeral wildflowers that have rebounded in the wake of the work of volunteers like you. We might spot some winged migrants, too!
