In this first of three online native plant workshops we'll learn all the ways your native plant gardens will nourish wildlife by becoming insect nurseries, seed sources and bird feeders! Native plantings create vibrant communities that restore nature’s biodiversity, and key to that process are the many specialized relationships between insects and plants. From the tiny ants and other below-ground fauna we rarely see to leaf-munching herbivores and gorgeous butterflies visiting flowers, insects rely on native plants. Discover the myriad reasons insects visit plants including harvesting nectar and pollen, laying eggs, foraging for nest material or finding a home. Having a basic understanding of these relationships is key to becoming a thoughtful native plant gardener!
