May 17 - 24 is Laudato Si Week, an annual celebration marking the anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si. This year’s theme is From Hope to Action. Pope Francis wrote, “Hope would have us recognize that there is always a way out, that we can always redirect our steps, that we can always do something to solve our problems.” (LS 61)
This year we’re asking everyone in the Marianist Family (communities, individuals, families, ministries) to take one action on behalf of creation during Laudato Si Week and share it with us at meec@udayton.edu. Bonus points for including photos! Need inspiration? Visit Laudatosiweek.org to get personalized recommendations. Or visit Marianist Encounters, and see what other individuals, communities and institutions are doing to enact the Laudato Si Action Platform and the Global Compact on Education. (While you’re there, make sure to sign up for the Encounters email list. You’ll be glad you did!) We’ll compile all our actions and share them in a future Justice Jottings and through Marianist Encounters so we can collectively celebrate our impact as a family committed to integral ecology!
